Fletcher Gregory Carter

On May 31, 2019, Fletcher Gregory Carter lost his long fight with Parkinson's Disease. Mr. Carter was born on July 4, 1953. He was a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and Wake Forest University. He owned and operated Weldon Cotton Gin and Seaboard Cotton Gin. He was an active member of his community and his church, All Saints' Episcopal Church in Roanoke Rapids.

Fletcher was predeceased by his father, Rex H. Carter; grandparents Ed and Laura Carter of Asheville; and Fletcher and Boyd Gregory of Halifax.

Fletcher was known for his love of good music, books and movies. He also loved watching Wake Forest sporting events.

Fletcher is survived by his mother, Agnes Gregory Carter of Roanoke Rapids; his children, Marshall and Ella Carter of Roanoke Rapids; his sisters, Ann Boyd Smith of Henrico, North Carolina and Elizabeth Haggerty and husband Tom of Florence, Alabama; his nieces, Missy Odom and husband Ken; Elizabeth Boyd "E.B." Odom and husband Richard; and nephews Kenneth and Michael Haggerty. Great-nephews Kenny and Carter Odom; and great-nieces Emma and Susanna Odom.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday June 5, 2019 at 11 a. m. at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Roanoke Rapids. Interment will immediately follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will host a reception in the All Saints' Episcopal Parish House immediately following the interment to visit with family and friends.

He specifically requested that in lieu of flowers, any donations in his memory be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in support of Parkinson's research-donations at michaeljfox.org/donate, or 1-800-708-7644.
